Bold Futures for Cambridge Science Centre – a statement from our CEO, John Bull
“It’s impossible to foretell the future, but one thing is certain – today’s young people will be living and shaping it. I’m optimistic that they can steer us to a place where we can thrive, infuriatingly though not everyone has the same opportunity to contribute.
I’m certain that the world will be a better place if every young person has an equal chance to play a role in the global transformation towards a more sustainable future. It’s fabulous to be part of the team at Cambridge Science Centre, a group of passionate people who are tirelessly working to create opportunities to connect young people to STEM.
2023 is going to be a big year for the Science Centre as we search for new ways to break barriers and be more useful, relevant and inspiring. We will be implementing changes to the way that we work – starting with empowering young people to shape our work at both delivery and strategic levels.
I’m incredibly pleased to say that the ‘Bold Futures’ project, run by The Association of Science and Discovery Centres, The Museums Association and The Liminal Space as part of the Wellcome Trust ISF legacy funding – will be supporting us to create our first Youth Advisory Panel. They’ll help shape everything we do and they’ll be empowered to make changes.
I’m really looking forward to seeing where they take us in 2023.”
