Today, we are open from 10.30am to 5.00pm
Come along throughout the day to explore our interactive exhibits and take part in today’s shows and activities.
No need to book!
11.00am Sun, Sea and Science
It’s summer, and there’s science at work on the beach! The sea is salty and the sand is perfect for sandcastles, but why? Our show will explain all about science at work at the seaside and show you exactly why you need to wear sunscreen.
14:30pm The Same, but Different
Take the chance to be a part of a 5-billion-year-old story and discover why we all look a bit the same – but different! Learn about Charles Darwin’s famous voyage on The Beagle and how that helped him formulate his theory of evolution. Help us identify the similarities and differences between species and find out how species adapt to different environments – including the very weird way marine iguanas cope with swallowing saltwater!
Make something a little different to take home with you!
12.30pm Butterfly feeder
Make and attract butterflies and other insects to your own butterfly feeder. Make with us and take home to your garden or windowsill!
16:00pm Origami birds
There are lots of different types of birds. Did you know their wings help them fly in a certain way? Make different paper gliders and experience how different wing shapes help birds fly in their environments
