Women in Science
This series of Home Educator sessions is all about some less well-known women who have made big contributions in science, technology, engineering and maths.
We will find out about these pioneering women, discover what they achieved and explore some of the things they investigated.
Through the series we will build a ‘Top Trumps’ deck of fabulous female scientists, and carry out some fun experiments based on their work.
Beetles, Bugs and Butterflies
Merian’s metamorphosis illustrations, Stevens’ sexy bugs and Nusslein-Volhard’s weird flies are the subjects of this session where art meets science to create some beautiful, and possibly strange, images of bugs.
This session forms part of our special programme, just for home educated young learners, with weekly sessions of hands-on activities.
The sessions will last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and each week will be based on a different curriculum topic. We will also have some free exploration time.
