Build bridges, make electricity and have a go at some fun engineering-based activities at our centre on Clifton Road Come along throughout the day to explore our interactive shows and exhibits and take part in today’s activities. In addition, we are supporting Cambridge Nature Festival with a series of nature based activities available all day.

11.00am Built for Speed
How do we build machines? What makes them work and what makes them go fast? Why are some machines faster than others and how do we build machines for speed?
Today, we will be looking at how machines work and why some are faster than others. You can build your very own machine out of recycled materials.
2.30pm All Charged Up
Opposites attract – that’s true even at the tiniest level. Find out how that important in creating that little spark when you touch a metal object, and what that’s got to do with lightening.
Make something a little different with our activities today!
12.30pm Recycled Car Toy
Let us show you how to transform a pile of rubbish into a fun toy car, and find out a bit about recycling along the way.
4.00pm See the Cogs Turning
Think about what a machine is, what forces are involved and what powers it and use all that information to make a simple machine from just a few bit of cardboard and some metal pins
Cambridge Nature Festival
This week sees the start of the Cambridge Nature Festival. You can find out more about the Festival in the lobby area of the Centre. We will have a number of different activities to do and take home.
Today we will be making Paper Snakes
That snake could be venomous! Or perhaps its mimicking something deadly to avoid being eaten… Find out about different adaptions of snakes in the UK and beyond and create your own species!
This is the first ever Cambridge Nature Festival. It will be a celebration of nature on our doorstep, as well as the wonderful people and organisations that work tirelessly for the natural world. Nature-based activities and events will be held in and around Cambridge and will include BioBlitzes, guided nature wanders, live music, wildlife ID workshops, art installations and much more.
